McSpadden is a legend of the Timed Event Championships.

Clem McSpadden, born on a ranch owned by his great-uncle Will Rogers in Bushyhead, Okla., went on to become a member in the U.S. House of Representatives from Oklahoma’s 2nd district. His heart, however, was always in rodeo. He announced the Cinch Timed Event Championship for 24 years, until his death in 2008. McSpadden was also the general manager of the National Finals Rodeo for 18 years, past president of the Rodeo Cowboys Association, PRCA’s announcer of the year in 1986 and inductee to both the ProRodeo Hall of Fame and the National Cowboy Hall of Fame. In many ways, he was the pride of the Oklahoma cowboy culture. To this day, his widow Donna presents the CTEC’s Pioneer Award to people who have made a significant contribution to the event.
