The other day, I asked my Facebook fans what their biggest win was in the roping pen "Roping Like A Girl."
I wasn't sure what kind of response I'd get, or who would chime in. But I was absolutely blown away by everyone's answers.
Some people said their biggest win was staying on when they could have had a real wreck, getting a big win with a loved one or roping for a major title.
For money or for fun, I loved hearing about what mean something to you. One woman said a win with her brother was "the happiest moment" of her life. If time in the roping pen is the happiest moment in your life, well then, I'm glad to be a part of a sport that's bringing something positive to so many people.
Here are just some of the stories:
Courtney Latham My biggest win is making it through still seated in my saddle and all my fingers still attached with more practice and patience one day I can and will post a win
Wanda Laderoute I don't have an official win, but what I consider a huge win is having a great heel horse that allowed me to start roping at 55! What a thrill to come out of the box on that little piece of dynamite! I wish I could have started younger! Rope on Girls!
Candice Barefoot This past November I won the high point team roping saddle at Cowgirls with a Cause, a cancer awareness fundraiser put on in North Carolina every year, exactly two years after being diagnosed with cancer. I've been cancer free for a year and ten months now and got to go to the World Finals in Waco this year and now have the privilege of having my story shared in the in the Women's pro rodeo news this month!!
Bobbi Norwood Have won a bunch but Roping with my 12 year old son at the local jackpots tops them all.
There are tons of good ones, and these are just a few! So stop over and check them out.
I'm at a roping school right now in Arizona, and I'm having a blast, as always, meeting so many people who are enjoying every minute of the time we're spending together. Hope T. and I have a blast doing these schools, and when people are learning and having fun, that's the best part.
