My new breakaway horse with some big shoes to fill

I've had a heck of a time keeping my good horses sound this last year, and that's no secret. It's just been one of those years where one freak accident after the next crippled the best in my barn.

We've been doing our best to get everyone back sound, and Gangster is beyond ready to get back out there. But in the meantime, to get me through the summer, I have been able to transition this head-horse-in-training, Tombstone, to my breakaway horse.

Tombstone came from JoAnn Parker, and he's 5. He's a Starlights Gypsy bred horse, and I've bought several horses from her. She owns that stud, and Trevor and I have partnered on and sold several of these horses. They've become some of my favorites.

Until three weeks ago, Tombstone was a head horse. Hope T. and I started him and trained him, and now we're loving getting to rope calves on him, too.

I was blessed enough to win the Kacee Bradley Memorial Breakaway Roping in Stephenville in Tombstone's first real outing as a breakaway horse, and I wanted to brag on him a bit. He's just a good one already, and he's only 5. I can't wait until Gangster is back, but in the meantime, I think I'm in pretty good hands with Tombstone.
