Blaine Linaweaver is a four-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo header, and a renowned reacher. In 2001, at the San Angelo (Texas) Rodeo, Kansas native Linaweaver and Missouri native Jory Levy set the 3.5-second world team roping record. On July 2 this year, Linaweaver got his hand caught in the dally heading a steer for Brandon Bates and cut off 95-percent of his right index finger. read more

Kolton Schmidt on Being a Canadian Young Gun in 2015

Kolton Schmidt of Barrhead, Alberta, Canada won the 2015 National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association team roping title rodeoing for Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant and heading for Oklahoman Sawyer Barham. Schmidt, 21, made his first Canadian Finals Rodeo (and won it with Tyrel Flewelling) at 17 in 2011, which is the record for the youngest team roper ever to qualify for the CFR. read more

Charly Crawford’s Patron Goes Out on Top

Seven-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo header Charly Crawford lost his main mount, Patron, on August 14. Patron literally went out on top, as Crawford and partner Shay Carroll split the first round at Canby (Ore.) hours before he died on the operating table at Oregon State University in Corvallis during colic surgery. Patron, who was the reserve PRCA/AQHA Head Horse of the Year in 2013, was 13. read more
